The intention of the whos-touring.com project was a platform to help monitor and advertise global tours. From music artists, sports stars to race drivers etc. It was intent to be a support sustem for a ticket reseller website that would be developeed simultaniously
Ticket reselling laws were drastically changed causing a reseller website to become unfeasible. The whos-touring.com project was put on hold as a result.
During the pandemic, we began planning and developing our Google Maps shared page.
We bagan coding the system on whos-touring.com in July and it was quickly ready for testing. But we had to wait...
The beginning of our Google Maps shared page is launched and put into private testing. This initial page was a basic page, with multple people sharing their locations on 1 map screen
During the second NSW lockdown, we continued planning and developing our Google Maps shared page.
We added the ability to show a tours To and from destination aswell as the route highlighting was added to enhance navigation features.
When The addition of multi-stop routes was added to the alpha testing, the system was proving to be stable and working well
We moved the system to beta and started testing with a small group of users. The system required a few tweaks but was working well.
In September of 2022 we launched our beta website that allowed us to create a management system for tours. This included the ability to create multiple private tours, invite people to the tours, and share the tour with others. We launched a basic new website that included a registration system and a tour management system. We also released all current Alpha testing into Beta testing network.
Throughout the rest of 2022 we spent time improving the maps system, focusing in data management and stability. We also added a few features and edge cases for when obscure things happen.
Just as whos-touring.com was reaching its user testing phase, the system was rebranded to GT.Social to better reflect the social nature of the platform and to strngthen the alignment with car / vehicle culture.
In Early 2024 we launched a number on new features to enhances the social aspects of the system. Friends, connections, clubs (groups) were all added.
As a single developer project, the development of GT.Social has been heavily impacted by personal life events. In 2024 these events took up a lot of my time and energy, and have slowed down the development of GT.Social. Limited bugs and updates were release to the Beta testing environment. The focus was on maintaining the system and keeping it stable for the users, rather than adding new features or making major changes.
In 2024 I fell in love with react and its interactive and dynamic user interfaces. Despite doing years of work in PHP and raw JavaScript I had decided that the site needed but the best architecture and framework to support the future of the system. I spent 2025 rebuilding the entire system in React, and it was a huge success. The new system is much more stable, faster, and easier to maintain than the old system. It also allows for much more complex features and interactions, which will be important for the future of GT.Social.
Early 2026 saw the alpha release of the new and improved React-based website, maps and management tools. This new version of the site has been in development for almost a year, and it is a huge improvement over the old version. The new version is much faster, more stable, and easier to use. React has also allowed a number of features to be added that were seen as too big or difficult in raw JavaScript and PHP.
Now that the new website is release to private Beta, we are currently working on improving the communcations system between the servers and the users. React has allowed us to drastically improve outr tech stack and we are now able to deliver updates and features much faster than before. We are currently working on a number of new features that will be released in the next few months
We are in the process of becoming a register 2nd hand dealer in Australia. This allos us to offer trading systems legally in australia. We hope to allow users to buy and sell their cars, trucks, bikes and parts on the platform, as well as participate in auctions for rare and unique vehicles. We are currently working on the backend systems for this feature, and we hope to have it ready for testing in the next few months.
Consolidated feedback themes to guide platform updates and support resources.
We have some ideas for some new social features that we think will be really fun and engaging for our users. We are currently working on the backend systems for these features, and we hope to have them ready for testing in the next few months.
We want to provide various functions for social clubs, especially those that are not-for-profit. We are aware that a lot of requirement these clubs have cost a lot of money. From membership management, event planning, and fundraising, ticketing etc. We want to provide a platform that allows these clubs to manage their operations and events without the need for expensive software or services.
Ticketing systems today are madness! and most clubs struggle to afford ticketing systems. We want to help that!. From sales to reselling, to check in and entry management, we want to provide a platform that allows event organisers to manage their events and ticketing without the need for expensive software or services.
We need to charge money. Google is free. So we cant be. We will be investgating a number of different monetisation strategies, including subscription models, advertising, and partnerships with other companies. We will also be looking into loyalty programs and other ways to reward our users for their engagement and support.
